New York, New York, here I come!
Oh New York. The city of lights, music, food, theater, and....comics! This time around, I got to experience the city as an 'in between-er'. I stayed with a friend who lived there and walked the non-touristy side of the streets. I took the subway, ate 'street meat', took in a show, and dined at chocolate shops named after Bald Men. Needless to say, I loved it. And oh! I completely survived the cold. Completely. (Granted, it was in the near 50s on Saturday, but still! Friday, I saw ice!) Anywho. I ended up attending the glorious con the full day on Friday and half the day Saturday. All I can say is wow: Melissa, we aren't in Texas anymore.
The convention center itself, held at the Jacob Javitts center in the heart of downtown New York, stretched for miles and three stories high. I was getting a crick in my neck from straining to take it all in. After an hour of waiting in one of the longest lines I've been in since meeting Bruce Campbell, we were all finally let into the main floor. It was crazy just how much was fit into this already large room. It was like wizard world texas x 800! And to think that the con in San Diego is probably a zillion times bigger than this one makes my head spin.
Brief highlights:
- Getting a sneak peek at the DC Universe game
- Finally meeting David Mack and Joseph Linser
- Purchasing my "Zombie Escape Plan" personalized journal
- Worming my way through the hordes and earning a seat at the oh so hilarious Robot Chicken panel
- ...which brings me to meeting Seth Green and Breckin Meyer
- ...and 'breaking protocol" (as Seth so eloquently put it) by jumping around the table and sneaking a picture with them
- Obtaining a "zombified" and "anime-fied (?)" self portrait
- Gazing at all the amazing cosplayers (come to Dallas! I know you're out there!)
- New Wonder Woman movie: a-m-a-z-i-n-g. But how could it not be with Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion?! (Felicity Fan. It was on after Buffy!)
- Meeting a ton more really cool and talented artists
- Drooling at all the delicious looking merch and being too broke to actually afford any of the really good stuff (sniffle, sniffle...)
- BEING. IN. NEW YORK.
Yeah, that about sums it all up :)

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous!!!!! I'm glad you had fun though.. Just keep your mitts of my man! ;) I just looked at the twicon prices.. meep!! $225.00!!!! WTF?!?!
225?! Woah now...that is definitely a little outside of my 'free-$20 dollar range". Boo :( Well, let's keep our eyes peeled to see if prices drop or if some unlucky lad decides to sell them for dirt cheap on craigslist. Also, I'll put my mitts all over your man =D
Hey, I kept thinking maybe I'd catch sight of you on the floor somewhere, especially on Friday when it was less busy, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. We did get to have dinner with Nerdy Bird, though, and she was just as cool as you'd expect.
Although I didn't get to meet Seth Green, I did get told a half-dozen times that I LOOK like Seth Green. Next year, I think I'm just going to wear a "Yes, I AM Seth Green" t-shirt, then wait for Seth himself to call me out on it.
And how about those "AmaZombies" in the Wonder Woman movie? You must have been in heaven when you saw those.
Anyway, glad you had a good time in our neck of the woods!
Oh, and were you aware of this ...

Haha! That's awesome. It'd be pretty damn cool to be a seth green look alike. Or at least, one at a comic con! Yeah, it was crazy crowded, I doubt I recognized anyone with my lack of glasses (dammit for leaving them!) and the fact that I was mesmerized at every corner. And amazombies! yeahhhhhh!
OH and yes I am! I mentioned it very briefly at the bottom of this post:

=D
Yes, but a potential movie version is in the works now.
Movie version! Oh I totally missed that! I just saw pride and prejudiced and assumed it was the new book version I read about...WOW. VERY EXCITED now. Thanks for the heads up!
Ok, seriously jealous of your Seth Green meetage! I probably could have done so myself if I was a real jerk and zoomed up to him in my scooter but I felt bad. That is a fantastic picture btw!
We should all host a blog writers party next time!
