March 25th, 2009

It's Wednesday, March 25th and I'm not motivated to do a single thing. Lately, my friend Ariel and I have decided that we were going to try and be 'runners'. This is extremely laughable in my case, as my version of running consists of trying to score the last donut or mow down overzealous fans at a nine inch nails concert. This program, dubbed "From Couch Potato to Runner" does just that: it takes you, slowly, on a few week long course to transform you into somewhat of a runner from a couch potato. The workout consists of alternating bouts of running and walking in timed intervals. Not so bad right? HA! The minute long run required every minute of walking just about kills me. Somehow I manage to accomplish it, but I can't squeeze out a word of help in the mean time. Suffer in silence.

If you don't know me, you probably think I'm an over-sized whale at this point. This is not true, per see, I just...don't run. I've been a dancer 20 years of my life (15 serious), a fencer, and even dabbled in martial arts. However, I have not attempted any form of rigorous exercise (besides dancing around and being my usual hyper self) since I acquired the fattening nine to fiver. Hence the fear of running. I'm doing it though, and I'll report how long it will last. I'm already sore up to my elbows and almost pass out as soon as I hit home.

Anywho, back to the no motivation thing. Sometimes I become a hermit and don't get on the internet....for days. (Besides checking email and what not for work). I crawl into my hole and read my latest book or play my latest game or what have you, keeping my laptop neatly closed. I need to stop this habit.

I love Australian bands. Empire of the Sun, the latest creation from masterminds Nick Littlemore (from Pnau and Teenager) and Luke Steele (from The Sleepy Jackson) is something worth noticing. FYI, I always want to call him Luke Cage. The song is pretty okay at first listen, but the music video escalates it to EPIC WORTHY material. The duo traveled over to China and other parts of the world to create a visual explosion worthy of any fantasy fic. In it, Luke appears to be teaching Nick the ways of the gods. I can't explain how good it is, see for yourself:

(I don't know how to frickin upload videos, so here's a lameass link)

In an interview, Luke explained how they wanted to make a Star Wars-esque homage, with Nick being his little apprentice. (Note the light saber type thingy). I like this thing.

My cat is driving me crazy.
