According to comingsoon.net, Dakota Fanning is possibly in line to play Jane in Twilight's sequel, New Moon. This is good news, because it means that they will most likely follow the main storyline. I was a little worried, because I've heard talks that they would rewrite a bit of it to include Edward in it more. Those that have yet to read the sequel, stop reading NOW.
There is no real way to involve Edward in it more without having the whole storyline lose it's mood and aura! It's entirely centered around Bella's 'loss' of Edward...and the only way the Volturi would be included in the movie would be if Edward chose to commit his 'suicide' by confronting them. And the only way he would do that is if he 'heard' and did not see that Bella was unsuccessful in her attempts to kill herself. So we'll see how it actually works. If they can pull it off, it will be marvelous. Regardless, I'll still be there at midnight and many times forth to catch it. =D
Also: Taylor Lautner is still set to continue playing Jacob. I know he's been working out and getting pretty slick for the part, but I still think that Ben Barnes (think prince caspian) would have made the better casting choice. Not only is he incredibly good looking, but it works for the dynamic character change: Jacob is supposed to shoot up and become a man almost over night.
I was totally psyched to hear Jane mentioned for the same reasons a you.. I still say that if they feel the absolute need to show more of Edward they can show him in South America hunting Victoria and of course they can show him getting the phone call from Rosalie telling him Bella killed herself. Might be interesting to see all the emotion that comes with THAT call.
There's plenty of little things they can do to include him more without ruining the movie. But, I'd also be just fine with them going entirely from the book and only showing him for the first 15 minutes or so and 30 minutes at the end. It's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
But damn, it, they'd BETTER keep to the book and have Jake running around half nekkid all the time. I will be sorely disappointed if not. If I can't have Edward, I need half nekkid Jake. 'Nuff said.

I had heard that Ben Barnes was stumping for Aro? I would be seriously conflicted, because I want to hate Aro, but, I mean, it would be Ben Barnes ... ;)
